It’s not every day that you get to escape the routine of work/life/family routine. But, a date night offer in London, was hard to turn down.
Disclaimer
A huge thank you to Novotel Hotels for hosting hubster and I for date night and our overnight stay. While we enjoyed this stay complimentary, all experiences and opinions are truly my own – always!
Into London Town on a Friday evening, literally escaping the Kentish countryside. Met hubster at his offices and together headed off to our hotel. Paddington is an iconic hub, not just because of Paddington Bear. It’s a buzz with travellers from all over the world travelling into London on the Heathrow Express , surrounded by shiny high rise offices and a hub for the drinks after work scene. It’s conveniently located with everything you need from the bars and restaurants dotted around the beautiful green spaces and the beautiful canals.
The Room with a view at Novotel Paddington
We were checked in by friendly staff and headed to a lovely Superior room on the 10th floor. An absolute treat was the bubbles on ice, the famously friendly bear, lovely card from the Novotel Hotel Team and a plate of fruit and macarons. A romantic start for sure. The room with a view, overlooking the city lights with the Friday night hustle and bustle below.
Dinner and Cocktails
We got ready for dinner and cocktails and headed to the downstairs bar/restaurant. The barman, a charismatic Italian, Matthia, was attentive and went through their newly launched summer cocktail menu and got our orders in. We settled on the two sharing platters. The cocktail menu definitely caters to all tastes. Both alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktail options available. Gin, Vodka, Spritz and Jack, something for everyone.
Hubster and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and drinks. An opportunity to catch up on things that life sometimes just doesn’t allow time for. We laughed, reminisced, made plans and finished off with some cocktails at the bar before settling in for the night.
A good night’s sleep!
A good night’s sleep is something that’s vital and in our busy lives, that we don’t always get. However, the one thing we can’t stop talking about is the sleep we had and the highlight was the smart pillows! *Note to self: Must buy a pair of these from Novotel!
Breakie…
This morning we headed down to breakfast and much needed rehydration 🙂 Hubster had a full English Breakfast and I had an assortment of cold meats, cheeses and some egg and toast. There were no milk alternatives out, however one of the staff were more than happy to bring me a jug from the kitchen. That first morning coffee… bliss.
There’s more…
Sadly, we didn’t have enough time to make use of the leisure facilities, situated on the Mezzanine level along with the roof top terrace (this must be gorgeous on a sunny day) but it’s the perfect place to make even more of your stay. Steam room, Sauna, gym and pool available to guests. Maybe next time.
Another point to note is how family friendly the hotel is. A little Paddington Bear corner in the lobby, our room had a pull out bed (perfect for families) and the menu caters to all. We also got a little map of the Paddington Paw Trail, which we’d definitely do with the kids.
We’ve recharged, connected and had a superb time.
How do you ‘Date Night’?
